Workshop Description:
The headlines seem to come nonstop. When there is a new incident of targeted violence – a school shooting, a hospital shooting, we are bereft along with the victims. Often, people turn to mental
health professionals to solve the problems. However, we are not taught about violence in our
professional programs. The task can seem immense. However, the field of threat assessment and management has decades of research and practice. We can follow the research, follow a plan, and
prevent most acts of targeted violence if we work together.
This one day primer will expose you to the basics of threat assessment and management from the perspective of a mental health provider. Practitioners will leave understanding the cornerstones of TAM and the building blocks of processing a threat as a practitioner or as part of a threat assessment team.

The course will be taught by Dr. Stephanie Stein Leite. She is licensed as a psychologist in NY, CT, VT and MA. She is also able to serve in many other states through PsyPact. She is the past president of the New England Chapter of Threat Assessment Professionals and the Forensic Division of the CT Psychological Association. She has spoken locally, nationally, and internationally on the topic of threat assessment and management. She also has over 25 years experience in the field of violence prevention.
